Media Release: SANParks CEO opens state-of-the-art Educational Centre in Marakele

The Chief Executive Officer of the South African National Parks (SANParks), Dr David Mabunda, officially opened a state-of-the-art Environmental Educational Center in the 67 000ha Marakele National Park outside Thabazimbi, Limpopo this morning (Monday 20th June 2011).
Leopard attack did not happen in Marakele National Park

The South African National Parks (SANParks) would like to put it on record that the recent Leopard attack in North West did not happen in any of its parks. The attack happened outside a privately owned game farm near Britz not in Marakele National Park as it was reported in the media.

African Wild Dogs Cross Borders (pdf)

On Tuesday, 6 November 2007, a pack of 18 African Wild Dogs was translocated from Marakele National Park (South Africa) to the Northern Tuli Game Reserve (NTGR, Botswana). The pack, which was donated by South African National Parks (SANParks), was transported to Botswana by road using Land Rover vehicles which were provided as part of Land Rover’s ongoing commitment to Wild Dog conservation.
